An Enhanced Risk (3/5) is in place for the majority of the Mid-South today. Storms this morning will primarily pose a damaging wind threat. Greater severe probabilities exist this afternoon as cells redevelop near the Mississippi River.
The threat for damaging winds returns late this afternoon into the evening hours as individual storms congeal into broken line segments. Winds in excess of 70 mph are anticipated.
The large hail threat maximizes this afternoon as individual storms pop near the Mississippi River. Hail up to two inches in diameter is anticipated.
Initial storms that fire along the Mississippi River will pose the greatest risk of developing a strong (EF-2+) tornado.
