Dry and windy conditions will produce dangerous fire weather conditions across the southern High Plains into the Southwest. On February 21, 2008, Susan Spears and Pat Vesper of the National Weather Service, Midland/Odessa presented a Department of Commerce Honored Institution Award to the Zia Gas Plant of Hobbs, New Mexico.
