Extreme Fire Weather Concerns; Severe Thunderstorms from the Plains to Mississippi Valley

Extremely critical fire weather concerns for portions of the southern High Plans as strong wind and very dry conditions could result in rapid spread of any fires. Meanwhile, severe thunderstorms are expected once again across areas of the Central and Southern Plains, then spreading in the Mississippi Valley regions on Monday. On May 2, 1997, Chevron Pipeline - Midland 4 ENE received the 50-Year Institutional Award. Mr. Ike Terrell, observer, received the award from Mr. Ray Fagen our MIC and Mr. John Frazar, HMT.

Several of Chevron Pipeline's operators/observers attended this ceremony. Cake, punch, and cookies brought a super end to this special event.

Chevron Pipeline has taken precipitation and temperature observations in east Midland for 50 years! We presented Chevron Pipeline a 25-Year Institutional Award in 1972!
