Local Weather History For October 5th...
2003: Isolated supercell thunderstorms developed late this day near a line from Tulia southwest to Brownfield and produced
mostly large hail. Two weak tornadoes were observed by storm spotters in southeast Swisher County; one of which snapped
several power poles. This same supercell storm created wind-driven hail up to the size of baseballs southeast of Tulia
breaking windows and causing major roof damage to homes. An estimated $3M in crop damages were suffered throughout the
region.
