Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Overview

A fast moving cold front made its way across Kansas during the evening hours of Sunday October 11th. Very strong northwest winds followed behind the front and caused widespread blowing dust across western and central Kansas. Some locations saw wind gusts as high as 60 to 70 mph! The strong winds caused numerous power outages along with downed trees.
