Tracking Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the Southern U.S.; Winter Storm to Impact the Northern U.S.

A storm system will shift from eastern Texas into the lower Mississippi Valley Monday with additional threats of severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall which may bring flooding. A Flood Watch remains in effect. In the northern U.S., a storm will bring heavy snow and gusty winds over parts of the northern Rockies, northern Plains, and Upper Midwest Monday into Wednesday. April 4-8, 2022 is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Iowa held an awareness week in late March.

 

Each day a different preparedness topic will be covered, including statewide tornado drills that are scheduled for Thursday, April 7th at both 1:45PM and 6:45PM.

On Thursday, April 7th, statewide tornado drills will be held at 1:45 p.m. CDT and 6:45 p.m. CDT.  Outdoor sirens may be used in some communities for the drill and NOAA Weather Radios will be activated using test wording.  We hope you can take advantage of these drills to test your action and shelter plans.
