Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. April 4-8, 2022 is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Iowa held an awareness week in late March.

 

Each day a different preparedness topic will be covered, including statewide tornado drills that are scheduled for Thursday, April 7th at both 1:45PM and 6:45PM.

On Thursday, April 7th, statewide tornado drills will be held at 1:45 p.m. CDT and 6:45 p.m. CDT.  Outdoor sirens may be used in some communities for the drill and NOAA Weather Radios will be activated using test wording.  We hope you can take advantage of these drills to test your action and shelter plans.
