A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. During astronomical summer (June 21 through September 22), temperatures averaged from near-normal to 2°F warmer than the 1981-2010 normal.  The coldest average temperature was at Medford, WI 63.9°F.  Meanwhile, the warmest average temperature was 73.4°F at La Crosse, WI.

Rainfall departures ranged from 2 to 8 inches wetter than the 1981-2010 normal.  Rainfall totals ranged from 11.16" near Nashua, IA to 26.89" near Lancaster, WI.

The astronomical summer of 2019 (June 21 through September 22) was tied for 9th warmest (average temperature of 73.4°F) with 1995 and 2005, and 24th wettest (16.52") at La Crosse Regional Airport.

The average minimum temperature of 63.5°F.  This tied 1980 and 2016 for the 4th warmest average minimum temperature for an astronomical summer. The warmest average minimum temperature (64°F) just occurred last year.
