The National Weather Service (NWS) is collecting public comments on how to display hazard headlines on the national and local website maps and the local forecast pages on the Internet after changes are made no earlier than calendar year 2025.

The “Advisory” and “Special Weather Statements” terms will be replaced by plain language headlines. This transition requires changes to the website maps and pages. The NWS is exploring options to the colors and wording for these displays. To comment on the proposed changes, you can take a short survey at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HazSimp23
The survey is open through June 16, 2023.

Questions and comments can be directed to the NWS Hazard Simplification Team at hazsimp@noaa.gov.
