Locally Heavy Rainfall for the Carolinas; Thunderstorms and Fire Weather Concerns for Intermountain West

Heavy rainfall from scattered thunderstorms is expected across the Southwest, Intermountain West, and Plains. Isolated dry thunderstorms may initiate additional fires across the west. The coastal Carolinas may experience flash floods in the coming days due to repeated thunderstorms. The NWS is exploring potential changes and improvements to the way it displays and communicates frost and freeze events. NWS is soliciting comments on public and partner use of and needs for frost and freeze information through December 17, 2020. Currently, the NWS issues five products to alert the public and partners on these hazards: Frost Advisory, Freeze Watch, Freeze Warning, Hard Freeze Watch and Hard Freeze Warning.
