Locally Heavy Rainfall for the Carolinas; Thunderstorms and Fire Weather Concerns for Intermountain West

Heavy rainfall from scattered thunderstorms is expected across the Southwest, Intermountain West, and Plains. Isolated dry thunderstorms may initiate additional fires across the west. The coastal Carolinas may experience flash floods in the coming days due to repeated thunderstorms. The NWS is collecting comments on a proposed consolidation (i.e., reduce the number) and reformatting (i.e., simplified product text) of flood-based Watches, Warnings and Advisories (WWA) for River Flood, Areal Flood, Coastal Flood, and Lakeshore Flood products through September 7, 2018. Based on feedback received, NWS may implement some or all of the proposals in early 2020.
