A major winter storm is expected to bring heavy snow, strong winds, and coastal flooding across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast that may cause impossible travel conditions and power outages. Bitterly cold air from the Arctic region that settled into the Northern Plains in early to mid February, 2021 resulted in numerous record low temperatures being set. This is a preliminary list of new record low temperatures. Of significance is that Spearfish set an all time record low of -33. The previous all time record low was -32, last set back on Jan 4, 1950. The period of record for Spearfish goes all the way back to 1893. |
