Preliminary Information on the Natural Dam Tornado (last updated 9:43 pm CST 1/30/2013):

Natural Dam Tornado (Sequoyah County OK, Crawford County AR)

Began:  3.4 miles northeast of Short, OK in Sequoyah County at about 2:55 PM CST 1/29/2013

Ended: 3.9 miles north of Natural Dam, AR in Crawford County at about 3:04 PM CST 1/29/2013

Path Length: 9 miles

Max Path Width: 700 yards

EF Rating: EF-2 with estimated peak wind of 110-120 mph.

Survey Summary: This tornado developed in extreme northeastern Sequoyah County Oklahoma and moved rapidly northeast to the north of Natural Dam Arkansas in Crawford County. It moved through rural areas of both counties snapping and uprooting many hardwood and softwood trees in the path. The most pronounced damage to trees occurred on Rainwater Road northwest of Uniontown in Crawford County where the tornado tore a path through the woods of more than one third of a mile wide. Power poles were snapped and a house had minor damage within the 9 mile long path.

 

Preliminary Information on the Elkins Tornado (last updated 943 pm CST 1/30/2013):

Elkins Tornado (Washington County AR)

Began: 3.5 miles west-northwest of Elkins, AR in Washington County at about 3:34 PM CST 1/29/2013

Ended: 4.5 miles north of Elkins, AR in Washington County at about 3:39 PM CST 1/29/2013

Path Length: 4.2 miles

Max Path Width: 400 yards

EF Rating: EF-1 with estimated peak wind of 95 to 105 mph.

Survey Summary: This tornado damaged 40 to 50 homes, the worst of which had portions of their roofs blown off. Numerous trees were snapped or uprooted and power poles were blown down. Several chicken houses and outbuildings were destroyed.

 

Preliminary Information on the Rockhouse Tornado (last updated 10:30 am CST 2/1/2013):

Rockhouse Tornado (Madison County AR)

Began: 1.6 miles northwest of Rockhouse, AR in Madison County at about 357 pm CST 1/29/2013

Ended: 1.6 miles north-northeast of Rockhouse, AR in Madison County at about 359 pm CST 1/29/2013

Path Length: 2 miles

Max Path Width: 350 yards

EF Rating: EF-1 with estimated peak winds of 100-110 mph

Survey Summary: This tornado developed in McIlroy Wildlife Management Area, snapping or uprooting numerous hardwood and sofwood trees. Several barns were destroyed and two homes sustained minor structural damage along Highway 221 and County Road 509. Several cows and calfs were killed by debris.
