Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook.   • On October 28, McAlester set a record low minimum temperature 24 deg F and a record low mean temperature of 43 deg F set on 10/28. This was also the earliest occurrence of 24 deg F.
  • Both Fort Smith and Tulsa had the last freeze of the spring and first freeze of the fall on the same dates this year: April 14 and October 28.
  • No river flooding occurred this month.
  • Tulsa has dropped to the 5th wettest year so far (Jan. 1-Oct. 31) with 52.36".
  • Fort Smith is the 3rd wettest year so far (Jan. 1-Oct. 31) with 55.92".
