Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Southeasterly winds will increase Tuesday afternoon into the overnight hours. Maximum wind gusts of 30 to 45 mph can be expected, with the highest gusts across the Ozark Plateau and west of Highway 65. Prepare for loose objects to be blown around.
The potential for severe thunderstorms returns Tuesday night and Wednesday with all hazards possible, especially for Wednesday. There is a scenario where few to no thunderstorms occur Tuesday night, which may increase the severe threat Wednesday.
After calmer weather today, the pattern becomes active again through the end of the week with daily chances for showers and thunderstorms. There is potential for severe thunderstorms Tuesday through Thursday. Then, there is potential for heavy rain and flooding Thursday through Saturday.
Several rounds of showers and storms are expected late week into Saturday. Several inches of rainfall will occur and will cause flash flooding and increased river levels. Highest flood concern area right now is southeast of Springfield.
