Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Scattered shower and thunderstorm chances continue through the weekend into early next week. A stronger system moves into the area late Monday and Tuesday, with more widespread rain chances and the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms.
Several chances for thunderstorms will occur through Sunday. While there will be chances for rain each day, it is not expected to rain throughout the entire time period. Many areas may only receive 0.25-0.5" of rain through Sunday. Areas in western Missouri and southeast Kansas will see the best chance for rain and may see some flooding with any repeat heavy rain, especially in areas that received the most rainfall last weekend.
