Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Summary

Scattered supercell thunderstorms developed out ahead of a cold front that pushed into the region Thursday afternoon. Multiple reports of large hail were received, with two reports of ping pong ball size hail in Morgan County. A few of the storms also exhibited strong rotation which prompted the issuance of Tornado Warnings. The storms then congealed into a broken line later in the evening with a few more reports of severe hail. Non-thunderstorm wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph occurred on Thursday ahead of the storms, with a gust of 53 mph measured at the JLN airport.
