Snow in the Rockies; Showers and Thunderstorms Along the Gulf Coast; Potential Winter Storm for Northern Mid-Atlantic and Interior New England

A winter-like pattern will continue over much of the Lower 48 over the next few days, with snow stretching from the Rockies today into the Middle Mississippi Valley on Monday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along the Gulf Coast and Southeast on Monday. Summary

Scattered supercell thunderstorms developed out ahead of a cold front that pushed into the region Thursday afternoon. Multiple reports of large hail were received, with two reports of ping pong ball size hail in Morgan County. A few of the storms also exhibited strong rotation which prompted the issuance of Tornado Warnings. The storms then congealed into a broken line later in the evening with a few more reports of severe hail. Non-thunderstorm wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph occurred on Thursday ahead of the storms, with a gust of 53 mph measured at the JLN airport.
