Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. Event Summary

A storm system and associated cold front pushed into the region Thursday, April 24th bringing scattered strong to locally severe thunderstorms. The strongest storms produced wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph.  Locally higher gusts near 60 mph occured mainly across cental Missouri. Several storms produced penny to nickel size hail.  Hail up to the size of half dollars fell in Springfield where hail covered the ground at some locations.
