Locally Heavy Rainfall for the Carolinas; Thunderstorms and Fire Weather Concerns for Intermountain West

Heavy rainfall from scattered thunderstorms is expected across the Southwest, Intermountain West, and Plains. Isolated dry thunderstorms may initiate additional fires across the west. The coastal Carolinas may experience flash floods in the coming days due to repeated thunderstorms. Event Summary

A storm system and associated cold front pushed into the region Thursday, April 24th bringing scattered strong to locally severe thunderstorms. The strongest storms produced wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph.  Locally higher gusts near 60 mph occured mainly across cental Missouri. Several storms produced penny to nickel size hail.  Hail up to the size of half dollars fell in Springfield where hail covered the ground at some locations.
