Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. A storm system tracked across the region Monday December 9 2013 producing a band of light o moderate snow from far southeastern Kansas into southern Missouri.  Total snow accumulations generally ranged from a dusting up to 3 inches with locally higher amounts between 4 an 5 inches in a narrow band along the Interstate 44 corridor in southwestern Missouri.
