Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. A storm system tracked across the region Monday December 9 2013 producing a band of light o moderate snow from far southeastern Kansas into southern Missouri.  Total snow accumulations generally ranged from a dusting up to 3 inches with locally higher amounts between 4 an 5 inches in a narrow band along the Interstate 44 corridor in southwestern Missouri.
