A mix of wintry precipitation moved into the region early Friday morning starting as freezing rain that turned into accumulating snowfall late on Friday into the overnight hours Saturday morning. Roadways became treacherous Friday morning as a thin glaze of freezing rain coated area roadways. Temperatures slowly warmed to above freezing during the day, improving driving conditions across the area during the day.
As temperatures dropped overnight, precipitation changed over from rain to snow. The heaviest band of snow fell from near Ft. Leonard Wood northeastward toward St. Louis. Some areas of the Ozarks saw accumulations of 3 to 4 inches with a band of lighter snow, around 1 to 3 inches, extending from the Springfield and Branson areas east to West Plains and Eminence.
