Snow in the Rockies; Showers and Thunderstorms Along the Gulf Coast; Potential Winter Storm for Northern Mid-Atlantic and Interior New England

A winter-like pattern will continue over much of the Lower 48 over the next few days, with snow stretching from the Rockies today into the Middle Mississippi Valley on Monday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along the Gulf Coast and Southeast on Monday. A slow moving storm system brought heavy rainfall, flooding and localized severe weather to the region Wednesday April 17 into Thursday April 18th.  The brunt of the flooding and severe weather occurred late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Storm total rainfall amounts generally ranged from 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts of 3 to 4 inches. This excessive rainfall resulted in flash flooding of streams and low water crossings along with main stem river flooding
