Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. A slow moving storm system brought heavy rainfall, flooding and localized severe weather to the region Wednesday April 17 into Thursday April 18th.  The brunt of the flooding and severe weather occurred late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Storm total rainfall amounts generally ranged from 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts of 3 to 4 inches. This excessive rainfall resulted in flash flooding of streams and low water crossings along with main stem river flooding
