 Fire Weather Planning Forecast
 National Weather Service Charleston WV
 248 AM EDT Sun Aug 9 2026

 .DISCUSSION...
Showers and storms will largely dissipate early this morning, with
mainly dry conditions expected for Sunday. The exception will be
across southwest Virginia and perhaps extreme southern West
Virginia, where a slight chance for storms will exist as a wave
 passes to our south.

An active weather pattern continues into next week, with showers and
thunderstorms expected daily. Some storms could be severe with a
damaging wind threat. In addition, heavy rains could create flooding
concerns, particularly in spots that receive multiple rounds of rain.
