 Fire Weather Planning Forecast
 National Weather Service Charleston WV
 241 AM EST Thu Feb 5 2026

 .DISCUSSION...
Colder air continues to filter into the area overnight, ahead of
high pressure that builds overhead on Thursday, making for a dry
but cold day with times of clouds and sunshine.

A cold front ushers in the next opportunity for wintry precipitation
for Friday into Friday night, with arctic air moving back into the
region for the weekend. Moderate snowfall accumulations are possible
across some of the mountains, where winter storm watches remain in
effect, with lighter accumulations anticipated across the lowlands.

A significant warm-up is forecast for early next week, but may not
 be long-lived.
