 National Weather Service Charleston WV
 248 AM EDT Fri Aug 21 2026

 .DISCUSSION...
A few isolated showers and thunderstorms are anticipated this
afternoon and evening mainly across the higher elevations along the
mountains, southern West Virginia and southwest Virginia. Some
showers could produce heavy downpours which may cause an instance of
flash flooding, however should be very isolated.

A cold front will then promote more shower and thunderstorm activity
as well as possible severe weather on Saturday. The main threats
will be damaging wind and isolated flash flooding. Cold frontal
passage is expected on Sunday morning.

Quieter weather begins Sunday afternoon which will continue into
midweek with below seasonable temperatures expected.
