Prolonged Atmospheric River Will Impact the Northwest Early this Week

A weather system in the Pacific Northwest will produce rain throughout the day, before a potent atmospheric river produces a prolonged round of heavy rainfall, widespread urban and river flooding, and high elevation snow to the region Monday through Wednesday. Snowfall chances return tomorrow however most accumulation (between 1-2 inches) is expected across southwestern/southern MN. Temps drop this weekend well below zero with bitter -35° to -25° below zero wind chills.
Light snow snowfall with accumulations up to an inch or less is expected across central and eastern MN and portions of western WI on Thursday into Thursday night. Areas across southern and southwestern MN have a stronger potential to see between an inch to two inches of snow.
