Tracking Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the Southern U.S.; Winter Storm to Impact the Northern U.S.

A storm system will shift from eastern Texas into the lower Mississippi Valley Monday with additional threats of severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall which may bring flooding. A Flood Watch remains in effect. In the northern U.S., a storm will bring heavy snow and gusty winds over parts of the northern Rockies, northern Plains, and Upper Midwest Monday into Wednesday. Today is Heat Awareness Day in Wisconsin, which is appropriate given the warm up expected into this weekend. This is a great time to check in on elderly loved ones and neighbors who maybe haven't taken their storm windows down from the winter or haven't put in their window air conditioner units yet.

The other side of the age bracket that are vulnerable are babies/little ones that are left in a car. Even with the windows cracked, it can still get hot enough in your car in 10 minutes for the child to have heat related issues. Their bodies are less able to adapt to the heat than adults.
