Extreme Heat and Fire Weather Conditions in the West; Severe Thunderstorm Threat in the Northern Plains on Thursday

Extreme heat will may set some new daily temperature records across the Desert Southwest. Hot, dry and windy conditions and dry thunderstorms continue to bring fire weather concerns for portions of the Desert Southwest, the central Great Basin and Rockies. Cold start to February

Very cold temperatures and low wind chills will persist through mid morning. Temperatures are around zero early this morning (away from the immediate Lakeshore), with wind chills of 10 to 20 below zero. Temperatures will warm into the mid to upper teens by late afternoon.

Morning temperatures and wind chills will be dangerous to anyone spending time outside, so make sure to bundle up if you venture out.
