Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. The weather observation at Lone Rock, WI is missing due to a communication line outage. The NWS-owned observation equipment is functioning, but the observation information is unable to be transmitted to external sources, including NOAA Weather Radio and web pages. A trouble ticket has been opened with the local telecommunications company, and we hope to have this issue resolved soon. We apologize for any inconvenience.
