Lowell to Impact Hawaii; Heat Persists in the South-Central U.S.

Hurricane Lowell is forecast to pass west of Kauai`s coastal waters tonight. Impacts such as high surf and heavy rain could impact all of the islands. Sweltering heat remains across the South-Central Plains and Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley into this week with limited nighttime relief. Congratulations to Heather Cramer, District Administrator for the Hustisford School District in Dodge County for being NWS Milwaukee's 2023 Ambassador of Excellence! Back in 2017, Heather helped to revolutionize how school district decision makers received weather information from NWS Milwaukee. 6 years later, and almost every school district in southern Wisconsin that we serve is now part of briefings and emails to make superintendents and bus services aware of hazardous weather that could affect the schools. On potential snow days, NWS Milwaukee holds briefings at 3:45am to let the school safety personnel know what the latest is with a winter storm before they have to make a decision on whether to close for the day or not. All of these services started because of Heather, so we want to give a big thank you and congrats on being our Ambassador of Excellence!
