Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible through early Wednesday morning across parts of northeast Texas into western Tennessee. Read More >

 

September  2019 was very dry and very warm. Jackson only received a trace of rainfall which makes September

2019 the driest September as well as the driest month ever. The previous driest month total was 0.51 inches from

October of 1987 and September of 2005.  London only totaled 0.11 inches. This amount makes September 2019

the driest September and the 3rd driest month ever. The driest September at London was previously 0.17 inches

from 2008. The top 2 driest months at London are: 0.02 inches from October 1963 and 0.10 inches from 1987.

Jackson and London also experienced their warmest Septembers ever. Jackson finished up with an average of

76.8 degrees which is 8.7 degrees above normal. London averaged 74.9 degrees which is 6.6 degrees above normal. 

Jackson set 10 maximum temperature record during September 2019 while London tied or broke 9 record. Climate

data for Jackson dates back to 1981 while weather records began in 1954 at London.
