Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. October  2019 was wet and warm across eastern Kentucky.  Jackson totaled 6.01 inches which makes October 2019

the 4th wettest October at Jackson. London picked up 7.81 inches which made October 2019  the 2nd wettest

October ever. Very warm conditions were also on tap to start the month with both locations seeing temperatures

in the 90s for the first 3 days of the month. Monthly high temperature records were also set at Jackson and London.

In fact, the Jackson Weather Office has never seen a 90 degree temperature until this month.  Jackson averaged

61.6 degrees while London averaged 60.1 degrees for October. Those readings were about 3 degrees above normal.

October  2019 was the 5th warmest October at Jackson and 8th warmest at London. Climate data for Jackson dates

back to 1981 while weather records began in 1954 at London.
