A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible through early Wednesday morning across parts of northeast Texas into western Tennessee. Read More >
The end of winter saw Jackson record its wettest winter ever, edging the winter of 1990-91's mark by one hundredth
of an inch: 20.60">20.59". It was also very wet at London with nearly two feet of liquid, good enough for
top 5 wettest but it's unofficial since London's precipitation sensor went out on the last day of February.
Both spots saw a warmer than normal winter with Jackson over 3 degrees above normal and the London
Corbin Airport 2.5 degrees warmer.
February 2019 ended up much wetter and warmer at Jackson and London as well. Jackson totaled 8.87"
of precipitation, easily besting the previous record of 8 inches from just last year. London was well over
the previous record of 10.64 inches with a mark of 11.06 inches through the 27th of February. More measurable
rain occurred on the 28th but due to sensor outage the exact February amount is unknown. The Jackson weather
office tied for the 4th warmest February some 5.5 degrees above normal. It was the 5th warmest February at the
London Corbin Airport which was a little over 4 and a half degrees above normal.
The following are Winter and February climate summaries for each location as well as the February
Local Climatological Data reports for Jackson and London:
