Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. The year 2018 was the wettest year at Jackson with a total of 67.98 inches, besting the

previous record of 63.29 in 1989. Normal precipitation for the year is 48.34 inches at Jackson.

It was also very wet at the London Corbin Airport but the precipitation sensor was out for

seven days, making London's 2018 total of 64.60 inches incomplete. The wettest year at London

is officially 65.22 inches from 2004. Annual temperatures were just a little above normal at

both locations with Jackson 1.0 degree above normal and London 0.8 degrees warmer.

 

December  2018 was the 3rd wettest December at Jackson and it was the 5th wettest December

at London.  Jackson was 3.4 degrees warmer than normal while London finished December 2.5
