Storm Impacting the Northwest U.S.; Fire Weather Conditions in Southern California; Severe Weather in the South

A Pacific storm is bringing areas of low elevation rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow, and high winds to the Northwest. Strong Santa Ana winds and very dry conditions are producing elevated to critical fire weather conditions in southern California. 2021 ended with warmer than normal temperatures and wetter than normal conditions across eastern Kentucky.

Jackson was over a half an inch above normal with a total of 52.46 inches. London's annual precipitation total is

missing due to a sensor error on December 18th and 19th. But even without those two days, London accumulated 54.58

inches which is over three inches above normal. Both locations were warmer than normal with Jackson tying for the 8th

warmest year and it was the 14th warmest year at London.

 

December 2021 was very warm with Jackson and London seeing their 2nd warmest Decembers ever. Jackson was over

12 degrees above normal while London was nearly ten degrees warmer. On the precipitation side, Jackson was almost

an inch and a half drier than normal, making December 2021 the 9th driest December. London's total for December is missing

due to sensor errors.  Climate data for Jackson dates back to 1981 while weather records began in 1954 at London.
