A Flash Flood Watch is in effect starting late tonight continuing through late tomorrow night for portions of southern Arizona. Enhanced moisture remains in the area and will influence thunderstorms to produce locally heavy rainfall that has the potential to lead to flash flooding.
More than 50% of all flood fatalities are vehicle-related. You never know how deep the water is or if the road has been washed away or compromised beneath the water. Don’t risk driving into floodwaters. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!
The latest Excessive Rainfall Outlook shows a slight to moderate risk for excessive rainfall across most of southeast Arizona on Wednesday. There is a 15-40% chance for flash flooding within 25 miles of a point. The best chance for flash flooding is currently situated over Pinal County, northwest Graham County, and central/eastern Pima County.
