Big changes are in store for the weekend as a strong weather system brings much cooler temperatures, widespread rain and significant mountain snowfall. Stay in touch with the forecast, and be prepared if you have outdoor or travel plans.
Widespread rainfall will impact the region this weekend. The chance for at least half an inch of precipitation is quite high, 65% to 95%, and most locations should receive between 0.50” and 1.50”. Stay tuned to the forecast if you have plans over the weekend.
Moderate to heavy mountain snowfall is forecast this weekend. Snow levels will drop to 6,000 feet by Sunday morning, although the greatest accumulations will be above 8,000 feet. Travel and recreation in the high country will be impacted. Prepare for wintry conditions.
A cool Canadian air mass will settle over the region this weekend, and there is a high probability of a frost or freeze across the region Sunday night and Monday night. Take precautions to protect sensitive outdoor vegetation.
