Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. There is a more widespread threat for thunderstorms across much of the region this afternoon and evening. The main concerns will be strong winds, lightning and hail. Keep an eye on the sky and make sure to have a plan to take shelter if storms develop in your area.
Today is expected to be the hottest day of the week across much of the region. Be prepared if recreating outdoors and make sure to take breaks indoors or in shaded areas!
