High pressure will keep the Northern Rockies under a stagnant weather pattern through early next week. Expect valley fog/freezing fog (dense at times) leading to low visibility and icy patches on roads/sidewalks. Fog may lift into low clouds at times. Also, air quality will be degrading with time. Please check for local burn bans.
The ongoing stable pattern is expected to transition to an active pattern the latter part of next week Jan 22-24. It's a favorable pattern for mountain snowfall with increasing snow chances in valleys, especially northwest Montana. Arctic air is also expected along the Divide which may spill into western Montana but the westward extent and duration of the colder air is still uncertain. Please stay tuned as this would be a big change to snowier and potentially colder conditions.
