Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. Hot temperatures expected today with a Heat Advisory in effect for portions of northeast Montana from noon to 8 pm. Expect high temperatures in the upper 90s to low 100s. Now is a good time to practice heat safety such as drinking plenty of water, taking frequent breaks, and checking in on loved ones and pets.
One more hot day today. Then, cooler temperatures are expected for the weekend. Showers and thunderstorms are expected at times through the 4th of July weekend.
