A National Weather Service Damage Assessment Team surveyed the damage through parts of Fayette and Walker Counties. The damage was the result of a tornado. The tornado initially touched down approximately two and one-half miles southwest of the Bazemore Community, in Fayette County, or one mile north of the intersection of County Road 50 and State Highway 129. The tornado then moved east-northeasward and crossed into Walker County near Barron Creek at State Highway 13. The tornado caused additional damage all the way to the Kansas Community. The tornado lifted in the Kansas Community before it crossed US Highway 78. The tornado damge was consistent with winds around 100 mph in both Fayette and Walker Counties. The tornado damage path was 10.66 miles long and was 100 yards wide at its widest point in Fayette County and only 50 yards wide in Walker County.
