Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. Wildfire smoke has overspread the region this afternoon, with surface level smoke reducing visibility and impacting air quality. The densest smoke is currently across most of eastern ND into far northwestern MN. This surface level smoke will persist through Sunday, expanding eastward with time.
Smoke will continue to pour into the region the rest of today through Sunday. This will result in degraded air quality and lowered visibilities through at least Sunday evening. Attached on this graphic is a model of where the densest smoke may be through Sunday afternoon.
