A few storms may develop this afternoon along and south of the I-70 corridor. The main hazards are lightning and heavy rainfall, but strong winds and small hail cannot be ruled out in the strongest storms. Uncertainty remains regarding timing and location of these storms.
Excessive rainfall with thunderstorms will lead to enhanced flooding concerns, and a Flood Watch will be in effect from 1 PM this afternoon through 7 AM Friday. Totals of 2-3" are expected, with locally higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Stay up to date with the latest forecast, and have a way to receive warnings if flooding occurs!
Shower/Storm activity is possible (15-30%) in the morning, with the greatest severe potential being from the afternoon through the evening (~2-8 PM). Best chances (55-75%) for evening showers and storms come along and south of US-36.
Increasing heat/humidity will cause temperatures to rise into the upper 80s/low 90s starting Sunday. Heat indices are likely (40-60%) to reach the triple digits. Stay hydrated and out of direct sunlight, avoid strenuous activity during the day if possible, and never leave children/pets alone in cars!
