National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce

The system has officially entered our area, and is producing mixed precipitation/rain south of US-36 with some weak thunderstorms off to the southwest. Going into the late afternoon and evening, the area of rain/snow will gradually transition over to wet snow, but minor/no accumulations are expected with low chances of slick spots developing on bridges and overpasses. Closer to midnight, precipitation intensity will lessen, and become drizzle/freezing drizzle across the area. Expecting greatest travel impacts north of the MO river, with slick spots developing on untreated bridges/overpasses before the Monday morning commute. After tomorrow morning, precipitation will transition to primarily rain across the entire area, and travel impacts will taper off.
A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect for portions of northeastern Kansas and north/northwestern Missouri until Monday morning. Areas within this advisory may see up to 1" of wet snow and a light glaze of ice. There is potential for slick spots to develop on roadways, particularly those that are untreated and on bridges and overpasses. Travelers should exercise caution, particularly during the overnight hours and the Monday morning commute.
Precipitation will continue to expand across the area over the course of the afternoon and evening. Most areas will see primarily rain over the next few hours before transitioning to a rain/snow mix. Areas near and north of Highway 36 may see a wintry mix beginning after midnight, but areas further south will primarily see liquid drizzle. By mid-late morning Monday, frozen precipitation will move out of the region, though light drizzle will continue throughout the day.
