Arctic Air Mass Lingers for Areas of the East; Critical Fire Weather for the Plains; Active Weather Pattern for Hawaii

Arctic air lingers for the east, however, winds will slowly subside and a slow moderating trend starts during the week. Moisture continues to provide rainfall and higher elevation snow for the Pacific Northwest, northern California and northern Rockies through Monday. Overview

 

 

Strong storms developed late Thursday evening across north central IA and moved southeast.  These storms quickly became severe and entered Keokuk county. Numerous downed trees, crop damage, and large hail were reported. 

The northwest portions of the county received 2+ inches of rain in a short amount of time and wind gusts between 60-70 mph were also observed.
