Powerful Winter Storm from the Upper Midwest into the Northeast; Severe Thunderstorms in the Midwest and Ohio Valley

A rapidly-intensifying storm is expected to bring heavy snow, blizzard conditions, and icing from the Upper Midwest through the Great Lakes and Northeast. Overview

  • A wide swath of 6 to 10 inches of snow fell across parts of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois from the late evening of Feb. 11 into the early morning of Feb. 13.
     
  • Much of the area saw completely snow-covered roads with numerous accidents, towing restrictions, and school and business closures on Feb. 12.
