Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook.   • January 2019 was 3-4 degrees below normal.  Cedar Rapids and Moline had their all-time record low temperature broken on Jan 31st with values on -30 degrees and -33 degrees respectively.
  • Precipitation totals for January 2019 were a half inch to one and a half inches above normal.
  • Snowfall totals for January 2019 were about 15 to 20 inches above normal.
