Heavy Rain and Flash Flooding Concerns in California; Heavy Snow in the Sierra

An atmospheric river will bring heavy rainfall to lower elevations of California this week, and heavy snow to the Sierra Nevada mountains. As of November 2018, the Marquette National Weather Service (NWS) has added four new river monitoring sites to our Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS) page. These gages are owned and operated by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and the data is shared with the National Weather Service.

At this time, these sites are observations only and forecasts will not be provided. They also do not have established flood categories, but we would like to hear from you if you live near these (or any) waterways and see any flooding of infrastructure. You can contact us via social media (Facebook or Twitter), or by phone at 906-475-5212 (press 0 to speak with a forecaster).

The following new sites are now available:

DRMM4 Dead River near Marquette
