A SLOW...EASTWARD MOVING UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM ALONG WITH THE
SLOW PROGRESSION OF A COLD FRONT...INTERACTED WITH PLENTIFUL GULF
MOISTURE FRIDAY AFTERNOON APRIL 4 THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY AFTERNOON
APRIL 5TH, 2008. THE RESULT WAS A HEAVY RAINFALL EVENT WITH LOCAL
DOPPLER WEATHER RAINFALL STORM TOTAL PRECIPITATION ESTIMATES THROUGH
THE EVENT...SHOWING A LARGE SWATH OF 5 TO 8 INCH RAINS EXTENDING
FROM CENTRAL PORTIONS OF MOBILE AND BALDWIN COUNTIES...EASTWARD INTO
THE WESTERN FLORIDA PANHANDLE. THE HEAVIEST RAINS WERE ORIENTED WEST
TO EAST ALONG THE INTERSTATE 10 CORRIDOR.
AREA RAIN GAUGES REPORTED 8 TO ONE LOCALE COMING IN AS HIGH AS JUST
UNDER 12 INCHES OF RAIN. OF NOTE...THERE WAS A WIDE VARIATION IN
RAINFALL OVER SHORT DISTANCES WITH MUCH LOWER PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS
FALLING AWAY FROM THE MAXIMUM AMOUNTS.
