National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce

There is a Slight Risk (2 of 5) of severe weather tonight across south Mississippi and southeast Louisiana. The main threat would be for wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, although a tornado or two can't be ruled out. Additionally, large hail up to the size of a quarter may be possible, especially across southeast Mississippi. The storms would be just ahead of a cold front that is expected to move quickly across the area overnight tonight. Stay weather aware this weekend and monitor the forecast for changes.
A late-season freeze is becoming more likely Monday night into Tuesday morning. The probability of freezing temperatures continues to increase. Late season freezes can be especially damaging to crops and other sensitive vegetation. Keep an eye on the forecast and be prepared to protect any plants that may be damaged by a freeze.
Strong winds will develop behind a strong cold front late tonight and into early Monday. A Wind Advisory has been issued for locations generally along and south of the I-10/I-12 corridor. In addition to the strong winds, much drier air could enhance fire weather conditions over portions of southeast Louisiana and south Mississippi Monday afternoon.
