Record Heat for the Intermountain West and Northern Plains; Heavy Rainfall and Severe Weather Threats

Record setting heat is expected over the next several days from the Intermountain West through the northern Plains. Furthermore, fire weather concerns increase with dry and breezy conditions. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorm threats for the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys, central Appalachians and Southeast today. WFO Huntsville Celebrates One Year of Operations

The National Weather Service office in Huntsville celebrated its first anniversary of operations on January 14, 2004. Staff members at the office and their families commemorated the event by gathering together for a special luncheon on the 13th. U.S. Rep. Bud Cramer (D-AL) joined the festivities as well, noting how much had changed at the office in just 12 months (pictures of our first day are available in the About Us section).
