Regional Outbreaks of Severe Weather Through Early Next Week; Early Season Heat Wave across the South

Active spring pattern across the center of our nation with several episodes of severe weather and heavy rainfall expected into next week. The potential for very large hail, long track tornadoes, severe wind gusts, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and flash flooding are in the outlook. WFO Huntsville Celebrates One Year of Operations

The National Weather Service office in Huntsville celebrated its first anniversary of operations on January 14, 2004. Staff members at the office and their families commemorated the event by gathering together for a special luncheon on the 13th. U.S. Rep. Bud Cramer (D-AL) joined the festivities as well, noting how much had changed at the office in just 12 months (pictures of our first day are available in the About Us section).
