Rock Hill NOAA Weather Radio transmitter out of service into late October

EXTENDED NOAA WEATHER RADIO OUTAGE IN THE ROCK HILL AREA

The NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards transmitter broadcasting from Rock Hill South Carolina, serving the Piedmont of the Carolinas, was damaged due to an apparent lightning strike in early September, and remains off the air. Technicians visited the site on September 23 and determined that extensive repairs need to be made before the broadcast can be reestablished. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our listeners.

With Rock Hill not likely to return to service until late October, listeners are advised to tune their radios to different frequencies in order to continue to receive weather alerts from NOAA's National Weather Service.

In York, Chester, Gaston or Union County NC, tune to an alternate broadcast from the Spencer Mountain (Charlotte) transmitter on 162.475 MHz.

In Cherokee or Union County SC, tune to the Paris Mountain (Greenville) transmitter on 162.55 MHz.
