Powerful Pacific Storm to Continue Impacting Northern California; Heavy Snow in the Appalachians and Portions of the Northeast

A strong atmospheric river will continue to impact northern California with heavy rain and life-threatening flooding through Friday. Unsettled weather is expected across much of the Northeast and Great Lakes over the next few days, including the likelihood of heavy snow in the central Appalachians and higher elevations of northeastern Pennsylvania and southern New York. Storm Damage from May 24th, 2011

 

Additional storm surveys were completed over the weekend. The Number of tornadoes has been increased to 10 from the storms on The afternoon and evening of Tuesday may 24th.

Tornado damage was found south of Reno...in Parker county. This tornado has been given a preliminary damage rating of EF-0.

A brief tornado also occurred mainly over Eagle Mountain Lake...but this tornado also caused damage along and west of Boat Club road in Tarrant county. This tornado has been given a preliminary rating of EF-0.

With these two additional tornadoes...this brings the number of tornadoes to 10 for the afternoon and evening of May 24th. This Also increases the number of confirmed tornadoes for 2011 to 39.

Tornadoes on Tuesday...May 24th

1. A brief tornado was observed by spotters 2 miles southeast of St. Jo. This tornado has been given a preliminary damage rating of EF-0.

2. A brief tornado was observed by spotters 4 miles northeast of Nocona...near Lake Nocona. This tornado has been given a preliminary Damage rating of EF-0.

3. A tornado was observed and photographed 2 miles southwest of Gainesville. This tornado has been given a preliminary damage rating of EF-0.

4. A brief tornado was observed by spotters 3 miles north of Rhome in Wise county. This tornado has been given a preliminary rating of EF-0.

5. A tornado was observed south of Reno. This tornado has been given a preliminary rating of EF-0.

6. A tornado was observed over Eagle Mountain Lake. This tornado has been given a preliminary rating of EF-0.

7. A tornado occurred in Irving. This tornado has been given a Preliminary rating of EF-1.

8. A tornado occurred in the far southwestern sections of Denton...along the Denton and Argyle city limits. This tornado has been given a preliminary rating of EF-2.

9. A tornado was observed by spotters near the intersection of I-20 and i-45 in southeast Dallas county...along the Trinity River bottom. This tornado has been given a preliminary rating of EF-0.

10. A tornado was observed by spotters near Cedarville in Kaufman county. This tornado has been given a preliminary rating of EF-0.
