Addition of Avalanche Watch for the San Francisco Peaks & Kachina Peaks Wilderness in Arizona beginning March 15, 2026

A cold front will move southeastward across the area today. High temperatures will drop 10-15 degrees, along with strong southwest winds over east central Arizona where a Wind Advisory is in effect from 11 AM to 7 PM.
A cold front moving into the region today will bring a chance of rain and snow showers to parts of northern Arizona, especially the Kaibab Plateau, Black Mesa, and Chuska Mountains. Localized light accumulations are possible, mostly less than one inch.
This winter (December 2025 to February 2026) was the warmest on record for most northern Arizona locations. The average temperature for the season was 4-6 degrees above normal across the area.
